Do you have some questions in relation to your appointment, how we work or how Neurofeedback works? Then the below information will help.
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback or Neurotherapy is a drug-free, painless, non-invasive technique used to teach the brain self-regulation and efficiency to improve brain functioning.
How Neurofeedback Works
Sensors are attached to the scalp of the client and through EEG equipment and neurofeedback technologies, a real-time feedback display of the client's brainwave activity is presented to the practitioner. The practitioner interprets this EEG output and is able to essentially "train the brain" based on what the client and practitioner are trying to achieve. Measurements of brainwave activity are displayed back to the client through simplified visual and audio displays (i.e. video games, movies etc).
Neurofeedback Session info
Once your initial consult is finished and a decision has been reached on whether you'd like to commence neurofeedback sessions you can phone our office to arrange mutually convenient appointment times on a weekly or biweekly basis. Initially we would ask for a commitment of one hour per week.
Treatment length is difficult to determine until you've had the initial consult and begin neurofeedback sessions. However many of our clients have experience significant improvements after completing between 10 - 20 sessions. Some have reported improvements even after the first session! for others it can take a few to notice positive changes.
Costs involved with neurofeedback sessions are discussed in your initial consultation with Tamara Lorensen as they often vary based on health cover and the number of sessions required for each client.
For more information on costs please fill out an online enquiry form or phone our office on (07) 3510 2165.
